CPHR CPD Hours: 1.75

Employees are spending increasing amounts of time online, both inside and outside of the workplace. Employers are also using technology and social media more and more in the course of their business. Employees have access to the internet at the tips of their fingers through laptops, smart phones and tablets. This creates risk of legal liability for employers, public relations disasters and the need to discipline employees for their misconduct in the use of technology. This session is designed to assist participants in proactively identifying and addressing these risks through social media and technology policies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Why do you need social media and technology-related policies?
  • What legal considerations affect your ability to monitor and discipline employees for their online conduct?
  • What are key considerations in drafting a good policy?
  • How do you ensure the policy is enforceable?
