| Important News About Obtaining the CHRP Designation |
|
In October 2011, HRANS announced that individuals pursuing the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation will need to satisfy an experience requirement beginning January 1, 2013. In this requirement, individuals must demonstrate three or more years of experience in human resources at a professional level within the last ten years. As a result of this change, the National Professional Practice Assessment examination (NPPA) is being phased out and will no longer be available as a route to obtaining the CHRP within HRANS after June 2013. There will be two more exam sittings for the NPPA: October 2012 and June 2013. By offering two more sittings of the NPPA exam during the transition period, those members who have prepared for and are planning to write the exam to gain the CHRP will still have the opportunity to do so. Starting January 1, 2013, the NPPA will no longer be a required step to earning the CHRP within HRANS. CHRP Candidates may demonstrate their professional HR experience through passing the NPPA (until June 2013) or through fulfilling the experience requirement. CHRP Candidates will not need to meet the experience requirement in order to write the NPPA in either October 2012 or June 2013. CHRP Candidates that choose not to write, or do not pass the NPPA, by June 2013 will be required to meet the experience requirement (in addition to the degree requirement) in order to obtain the CHRP. More information regarding how the experience assessment process will be managed will be communicated to members in the Fall 2012. All other requirements to earn the CHRP within HRANS remain the same and include the National Knowledge Exam and the Bachelor’s Degree. Price: It is anticipated that the price for the Experience Assessment will be the same as the NPPA. For more information on the experience requirement, click here. Please Note: HRANS staff are not able to advise you relating to if you will meet the experience requirement or which method that you should choose during the transition period (NPPA or Experience Requirement). That is an individual decision by you as the member. The tool and process relating to the experience requirement will be communicated to members in the Fall 2012. (updated July 11) Already Have Your CHRP? For members currently holding the
CHRP within HRANS, the option to write the NPPA for recertification purposes
will only be available for the exam sittings in October 2012 and June
2013. After the last sitting of the NPPA in June 2013, the NPPA will no
longer be an option for recertification purposes. |
