In this informative session, Sterling Kendall, Safety Advisor with Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, will introduce the role of the Safety Branch and provide an overview of how provincial Occupational
Health and Safety legislation applies to workers and workplace parties across industries.
Participants will explore the Internal Responsibility System, the fundamental rights of workers, and practical approaches to hazard recognition, reporting concerns, and building a proactive safety culture. The session will also
highlight recent regulatory updates, including workplace harassment regulations that came into effect on September 1, 2025.
This webinar will provide HR professionals and employers with valuable insight and resources to support due diligence, strengthen compliance, prevent injuries, and help reduce claims and costs associated with workplace incidents.

Sterling Kendall, CRSP
Sterling Kendall, CRSP joined the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration in 2013 and has held several roles supporting workplace health and safety, including Safety Investigator, Corporate Policy Research Officer, and Project Manager
in Occupational Hygiene.
Since 2022, Sterling has served as a Safety Advisor with the Safety Branch, providing education and outreach across Nova Scotia to help workplaces understand their responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Based in Dartmouth, Nova
Scotia, Sterling is committed to supporting safer workplaces through prevention, awareness, and shared accountability.
