CPHR CPD: 2
The Aspire to Hire education session takes an honest look at Human Rights and accessibility in hiring practices. Stemming from lessons learned as the IWK Health Centre worked to enhance its promotion of opportunities in the community.
Referencing Nova Scotian Acts on Human Rights and Accessibility, this session will focus on evolving the mindset of participants so that recruitment is an accessible process. It also provides food for thought for legally defensible hiring practices using examples of real-life hiring scenarios. Understanding that requirements for the duty to accommodate are ever-changing, the session closes with advice on practices and available supports for employers.
- Ensure mindfulness of accessibility and removing barriers
- Understand defensible hiring practices
- Comfortable in executing hiring practices
- know where to turn to for support
