About the Program
We are seeking full-time students currently enrolled in one of CPHR Nova Scotia’s accredited post-secondary HR programs who are interested in developing leadership skills, building relationships and promoting the value of the CPHR designation. The role of an Ambassador is to represent CPHR Nova Scotia within their institution through involvement in student, regional and provincial activities. This is a volunteer position for the post-secondary school year that will require approximately 3-5 hours of commitment each month.
We are currently looking for full-time student members to be Ambassadors for the following programs:
- Mount Saint Vincent University
– Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in Strategic Human Resources Management - Nova Scotia Community College
- Human Resource Management Graduate Certificate - Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University
- Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Human Resources and Industrial Relations
- Human Resources Management Certificate
- Human Resources Management Certificate - Psychology Option - Cape Breton University
- Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in HR
Expectations of CPHR Nova Scotia Campus Ambassadors
- Connect with student clubs and career centers to share information about CPHR Nova Scotia and the CPHR designation
- Hold small info sessions and/or focus groups with peers
- Plan student social events for CPHR Nova Scotia
- Promote CPHR Nova Scotia and the CPHR designation by sharing social media posts
- Communicate benefits of student membership to peers
- Represent/be the face of CPHR Nova Scotia on campus
- Support CPHR Nova Scotia strategic objectives
- Interact and engage HR students, faculty and staff in CPHR Nova Scotia activities and opportunities
- Develop strong networks within the local HR community
The ideal candidates must:
- Be a full-time student enrolled in one of the above programs and a student member with CPHR Nova Scotia
- Academic Standing of 2.7 GPA or greater
- Have strong communication skills and experience with public speaking
- Have strong relationship building skills
- Be passionate about HR and interested in pursuing the CPHR designation
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Be willing to take initiative
- Be a creative thinker and problem solver
- Demonstrate a professional demeanor when interacting with peers and faculty
- Be comfortable working with various virtual platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
* Familiarity with CPHR Nova Scotia and the pathways to achieving the CPHR designation will be considered an asset
* Faculty recommendation letter is an asset
