In any week, 500,000 Canadians are absent from work due to stress and mental health concerns. These numbers are not only staggering, they are growing worse, as incidents of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions continue to rise.

While statistics such as these stress the value of workplace wellness campaigns, they also reinforce the importance of fully understanding and complying with human rights obligations such as they duty to accommodate.

In this webinar, employment and human rights lawyer, David Brown, will discuss the always challenging topics of human rights in the workplace, the duty to accommodate and due hardship, with a specific focus on mental illness. David will also provide practical thoughts on effective communication with employees on medical leave, the employer's role in supporting recovery, and effective practices in working with WorkSafeBC and disability insurance providers.

How to Register

Every person attending this webinar must be registered (and paid for) individually.

IMPORTANT: Registering someone other than yourself? If you are a member and are registering someone else to attend the event, DO NOT log into the site to register. If the other person is a member, they must log in using their own member ID and password and register that way. If the other person is not a member, do not log in, just register them from the public area of the website. Registrations must be done online.

The registration deadline is 12 noon on Thursday, November 1, 2018.  Please note that registrations are not possible after online registration has closed.  

Important note: Both registration and payment are required for every person attending this webinar.

Payment Terms

Payment is due within 30 days of registration or by the registration deadline of November 1, 2018 (whichever is earlier). Payments may be made conveniently online by Visa/Mastercard at the time of registration or by cheque received by the registration deadline. Cheques must be received within 30 days of registration or by November 1 (whichever is earlier) by CPHR Nova Scotia at 84 Chain Lake Drive, Suite 103, Halifax, NS B3S 1A2. Registrations October 15 or later must be paid by Visa/MC at time of registration.

If paying online by Visa or Mastercard, you must have the billing address exactly as it appears on the credit card statement or the transaction will be declined. This is a security feature for your protection.

 

Cancellation Policy

A full refund, less a $40+HST processing fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing by October 19th at 12:00 noon. Those who make reservations and do not attend will still be required to pay for the full session fee. Cancellations received by CPHR Nova Scotia in writing by 12 noon on October 19, 2018 will only be charged the processing fee. Substitutions are permitted if received by November 5th at 12:00 noon (for substitutions, the registrant must advise our office of their replacement in writing by 12 noon on November 5th including the full name, email and phone number of the substitution). Member/non-member rates will be applied to the substitutions. This cancellation policy applies regardless of date of registration. Registrations after the cancellation deadline are non-refundable.
