CPHR Nova Scotia requires our CPHR Academic program or an equivalent to be completed before writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE). This requirement is applicable unless the individual is covered by another eligible path. Important Dates: FALL SEMESTER 2021
- September 8, 2021: Fall 2021 semester begins. Use your portal username and password to access courses that you have registered for starting this date.
- September 17, 2021: Last day to register and pay for Winter 2021 semester courses.
- September 24, 2021: Last day for 100% refund of course fee.
- October 1, 2021: Last day for 50% refund of course fee.
- October 1, 2021 onward: No refund of course fee.
- November 26, 2021 onward: Final exam period begins.
- December 11, 2021 onward: Final exam period ends.
- December 11, 2021 onward: Last day to request to defer a course.
Course Equivalents Self Assessment - Three Options
Captus Press has created a PLAR equivalency database that lists courses from post-secondary institutions across Nova Scotia and Canada that are equivalent to the CPHR Canada required courses. You can access this database to self-assess. Option 1: Have you found a complete program or all nine courses? Complete the application form, including an $18 assessment fee to have your courses assessed for NKE registration eligibility by CPHR NS. Option 2: Have you found some of your HR courses listed? Click here to create a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) with Captus Press. Option 3: Have you taken some courses but don't see them on the list? Accounting and Financial Management Author: John Parkinson Ph.D., Professor of Accounting, York University Instructor: Mike Cornacchia Financial and management accounting knowledge is necessary to enable Human Resources Managers (HRM) to do their job effectively. In some cases, where the HRM are expected to carry out the activity, a detailed knowledge is required. This would be the case, for example, in respect of the preparation of operating budgets within HR, and the interpretation of control information based on those budgets. In other cases the HRM is expected to have a working understanding of the challenges faced by fellow members of the management team, where a familiarity with the concepts is more important than detailed knowledge.
