This "Using Coaching to Lead" Workshop is highly interactive and teaches the "coach approach" style of communicating. It is designed to allow participants to become more aware of their coaching capabilities and thereby gain a more effective and better understanding of this.


Learning Objectives:

In this half-day morning workshop we will explore:

  • What coaching is and is not
  • Educate participants on when to have a coaching conversation
  • Teach two Core Coaching Skills, listening and questioning, to implement in the workplace
  • Encourage participants to reflect on how they can use coaching to lead in their respective organization
  • Ensure participants leave with an action plan on how they will enhance their coaching skills post-workshop

About the Speaker:

Marilyn Orr, BSc, MA, CEC, Vision Coaching 
For Marilyn, Executive Coaching is a natural extension of her formal education and people-focused career. She has studied Psychology, Counseling and Executive Coaching. She received her Bachelor in Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto and her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Providence Seminary in Manitoba. Most recently, she completed her graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. 
Marilyn began her counseling career with a small, private practice then broadened her focus to include training in the non-profit sector focusing on such topics as volunteer management, board development and organizational wellness. 
 
Since 2004, Marilyn has provided executive leadership to a human resource consulting and training firm. In this position, Marilyn has promoted leaders self-awareness and an appreciation of the unique strengths of team members. Organizations have benefited through improved team dynamics, communication and productivity. Marilyn views Executive Coaching as an extension of the values she is deeply committed to. Vision Coaching wants to help create and develop strong and confident leaders and managers by offering relevant, practical, and interactive content.

Cancellation Policy:

Those who make reservations and do not attend will be required to pay the full registration fee. Cancellations received in writing prior to noon on Friday, October 7, 2011 will not be required to pay the registration fee however will be subject to a $25 plus HST admin fee. Refunds are only available if received in writing prior to noon on Friday, October 7, 2011 and will be subject to the $25 plus HST admin fee. Substitutions are permitted up to the day of the event. Member/non-member rates will be applied.
