Did you know:

  • Nova Scotia has the highest percentage of citizens over the age of 65 in Atlantic Canada and the second highest in Canada?
  • Nova Scotia's population is expected to grow by 3% by 2026 while the percentage of citizens over 65 is projected to grow by 80%?
  • That older workers can be one of your biggest untapped resources as workforce growth slows and economic conditions improve!

As baby boomers retire and birthrates decline there will not be enough young people entering the workplace to replace retirees. While most organizations have long-standing workplace practices that invest in younger workers, many have placed limited focus on the recruitment, retention or development of older employees. Yet, mature workers offer valuable skills, tacit knowledge and established relationships that can contribute to competitive advantage.

This session will provide information on how to include workforce aging in human resource management planning. Learning outcomes include:

  • How to assess the impact of retirement on your workplace,
  • Options to retain older employees,
  • Recruitment strategies for mature workers.

Join your colleagues and guest speaker Colleen Alexander to learn about and discuss practical ways to evaluate risk, and engage, retain and recruit mature workers.
