This focused, practical certificate delivers hands-on training, proven tools, and real-world guidance so you can move from first referral to final report with clarity and credibility. The duration of this program is 2-days and will be held on May 26 & 27, 2026 in Halifax. Lunch will be provided!
This program was developed with a singular focus: to give you the confidence to conduct an impartial and defendable workplace investigation with the highest degree of confidence.

- Comprehensive Workplace Investigations Resource Booklet (print + electronic) with templates, checklists, and leading Canadian cases.
- Practical tools you can reuse for future investigations.
What you will learn:
You will learn how to conduct a workplace investigation from the point you receive a complaint (or allegations) until when you submit your report.
Specifically, you will learn the following:
- Screen and triage complaints effectively.
- Plan and scope an investigation to protect evidence and fairness.
- Conduct trauma-informed, effective investigative interviews.
- Weigh evidence objectively and document credibility.
- Draft a clear, defensible fact-finding report with recommended outcomes.
About the Facilitator

Devan Corrigan has led investigations for organizations including Resolute Forest Products, Canadian Pacific Railway, Canada Post, and Glencore Canada. He holds an M.I.R. from Queen’s University, an Honours degree in Psychology, and HR certification from Saint Mary’s University. Devan is an active member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and is the lead facilitator for the Mastering Fact-Finding & Investigation program at Queen’s IRC.
