Program Overview
Description
HR burnout is rarely about workload alone. It is the result of prolonged exposure to other people’s threat responses. When leaders feel uncertain, uncomfortable, or exposed, their brains look for relief — and HR often
becomes the safest place to offload risk, conflict, and responsibility. This session explains the neuroscience behind threat avoidance, cognitive offloading, and habit formation, and why HR so often becomes the organization's
shock absorber. Participants learn to recognize when HR is absorbing risk rather than managing it, and why this pattern increases organizational risk over time.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand why threat and discomfort drive leaders to offload risk onto HR
- Recognize the neurological and behavioral patterns that turn HR into the default problem-holder
- Apply boundary and redirection strategies that shift accountability without damaging trust
