Using Social Media to RecruitOver the years recruitment methods have continuously evolved to take advantage of new technological innovations. We've come a long way since recruiters put an ad in the paper and waited a week or two for hand-written applications to come in via Canada Post. One of the most recent, and significant, technological innovations to impact the recruitment function has been the creation of social media networks, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+. These social networks can be of great assistance to those responsible for recruitment, but there are some notable challenges and risks that should be understood before social media becomes a part of any company's recruitment strategy.
Learning Objectives
This interactive workshop is geared towards corporate recruiters and HR Professionals who are responsible for recruitment as part of their role in Human Resources. In this session participants will experience:
- An overview of the social media networks, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
- A review of some of the potential methods of using these networks to recruit new employees.
- A review of some of the associated challenges and risks for the hiring organization and the recruiter.
Participants will also have an opportunity to network with other HR Professionals practicing recruitment in this region, and exchange best practices around social media recruitment.
