Collaboration is about people working together to get things done. Increasingly, collaboration happens online. Managers are asked to coach and consult with remote staff. Teams operate virtually. Employees work from home. Working virtually offers new challenges: How to stay focused on people and relationships? How to get everyone on the same 'cultural' page? What are the best tools to use? How do we overcome technological barriers and improve online efficiency? Attendees will walk away with insights, tips, and how-to's, for better virtual communication and collaboration.

About the Presenter
 
Ben Ziegler is a conflict management and collaboration specialist. In a conflict management capacity he is a mediator and mentor in the BC Court Mediation Program, an online mediator of business disputes, consults to the BC Government around online dispute resolution, and delivers conflict management training and coaching, in-person and virtually. As a collaboration consultant, he helps individuals and organizations bridge differences, using collaborative processes. With ideaconnection.com, he facilitates virtual teams of problem-solvers, working on innovation challenges. Previous careers included 14 years in the high tech sector, in consulting roles with Accenture and Sierra Systems. Ben is active in various non-profit community and arts organizations. Presently, he co-facilitates a family care giver support group, and provides business mentoring and training to new immigrants. Since 2009, he has maintained a blog, CollaborativeJourneys.com, on collaboration-related topics. He has published several ebooks on collaboration and creative problem solving, curates an online newspaper, the Canadian Mediators, and is currently developing an e-learning course on virtual collaboration.

Who Should Attend
Emerging to Mid-level Practitioners. The target audience will already have some understanding and experience with online collaboration (and/or social technology) concepts, tools and applications. This is not a workshop to "convert" people to the benefits of virtual collaboration. Rather, it is intended to motivate people to further their virtual communication and collaboration skills. The session how-to's focus on small group contexts; conversations, meetings and teams.

IMPORTANT: Registering someone other than yourself?  If you are a member and are registering someone else to attend the event, DO NOT log into the site to register.  If the other person is a member, they must log in using their own member ID and password and register that way.  If the other person is not a member, do not log in, just register them from the public area of the website.  Registrations must be done online.

The registration deadline is 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.  Please note that registrations are not possible after online registration has closed.  

Important note: both registration and payment are required for every person attending this webinar.

All log in information will be sent to registrants via email the day prior to the webinar session.

 

Payment Terms

Payment is due by the registration deadline of February 25, 2014.  Payments may be made conveniently online by Visa/Mastercard at the time of registration or by cheque received by the registration deadline.  Cheques must be received by the registration deadline (February 25) by HRANS at 84 Chain Lake Drive, Suite 103, Halifax, NS B3S 1A2.  Registrations February 20th or later must be paid by Visa/MC at time of registration.

If paying online by Visa or Mastercard, you must have the billing address exactly as it appears on the credit card statement or the transaction will be declined.  This is a security feature for your protection.

 

Cancellation Policy

A full refund, less a $25+HST administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing prior to Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 12:00noon. Those who make reservations and do not attend will still be required to pay for the full session fee.  Cancellations received by HRANS in writing prior to noon on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 will only be charged the administration fee.  Substitutions are permitted if received by February 25 at 12 noon (for substitutions, the registrant must advise our office of their replacement in writing by 12 noon on February 25th including the full name, email and phone number of the substitution).  Member/non-member rates will be applied to the substitutions.  This cancellation policy applies regardless of date of registration.  Registrations after the cancellation deadline are non-refundable.
