The definition of Bullying & Harassment as defined by WorkSafe BC is clear in what constitutes inappropriate conduct in the workplace, describing what behaviours are included and what behaviours are not included under the policy. It is important to recognize when a situation has the potential to escalate, and know what steps can help prevent or minimize workplace Bullying and Harassment from happening. "In my experience, bullying will usually lead to conflict whereas not all conflict is a result of bullying" - Phil Eastwood If we look to the established dictionaries for assistance, 'Conflict is the mental struggle resulting from often incompatible or opposing needs, drives, wishes, or external or internal demands' (Merriam Webster). Based on this definition, conflict can ofter be healthy within the workplace if managed and resolved collaboratively whereas bullying should not be tolerated. In this webinar, we will explore the differences between bullying and conflict, identify some of the risk areas (e.g. dynamics of different styles or poor relationships) and also look at examples of prevention strategies for various situations. Cancellation Policy A full refund, less a $25+HST administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing prior to Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 12:00noon. Those who make reservations and do not attend will still be required to pay for the full session fee. Cancellations received by HRANS in writing prior to noon on Thursday, February 27, 2014 will only be charged the administration fee. Substitutions are permitted if received by February 27 at 12 noon (for substitutions, the registrant must advise our office of their replacement in writing by 12 noon on February 27th including the full name, email and phone number of the substitution). Member/non-member rates will be applied to the substitutions. This cancellation policy applies regardless of date of registration. Registrations after the cancellation deadline are non-refundable.
