CHRP CPD Hours: 3.0
Transformational Leadership: Applied Leadership Development
Leadership involves influence - persuading, motivating and helping others to achieve goals. Leaders may or may not have a formal title. Leadership development cannot wait until one reaches the upper echelons of the organization. Transformational leadership has received a lot of attention in the last several decades, including well over one hundred studies that have collectively shown relations between transformational leadership and higher performance of individuals, teams, and organizations. Field experiments have demonstrated positive effects of transformational leadership training on leaders' behaviour, employee attitudes, and other important outcomes. The purpose of this professional development workshop is to review the key components of transformational leadership and provide participants an opportunity to develop action plans for leadership development.
Learning Objectives
- Define transformational leadership.
- Outline and explain the key components of transformational leadership.
- Describe effects of transformational leadership behaviour in organizations.
- Set specific goals and action plans for enacting transformational leadership behaviours that can be incorporated into participants' daily routines and sustained over time.
