The Association of Workplace Educators of Nova Scotia (AWENS) is offering an Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW), an internationally recognized certification, for individuals working as educators, trainers and facilitators working in corporations, institutes or non-profits.
Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is a highly successful Professional Development Initiative for educators, that was created in British Columbia, Canada in 1979, at the University of British Columbia. Since, hundreds of educators have served as ISW Facilitators in colleges, institutes, universities, polytechnics, hospitals, government departments, non-profits and training organizations around the world.
The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is a 30-year-old, peer-based, experiential instructional development program and is one of the most successful approaches to pedagogy in post-secondary institutions. The ISW is designed to enhance the teaching effectiveness of both new and veteran instructors. The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Program is a comprehensive three-tiered instructor development program that serves as the foundation for several professional development activities.
The ISW session is held over three consecutive days of intense training, with a maximum of six participants in a three-day session. The outcome of each is that each participant receives their ISW international certification.
