Join HRANS and guest speaker Rick Dunlop for an interactive presentation on Hot Topics in Employment. Rick will cover the 5 hot topics in employment and employment law:

• workplace investigations
• accommodation of mental illnesses
• respectful workplace policies
• social networking
• privacy.

Rick will also open the floor to participants looking to learn about specific workplace legal issues.

About the Speaker:
Rick Dunlop is a Partner in Stewart McKelveys Halifax, Nova Scotia Labour and Employment Group. Rick has a diverse management side labour and employment law practice in which he provides practical solutions and representation on all workplace legal issues. In particular, Rick often represents employers in union certification applications in the construction and non-construction industry sectors, wrongful dismissal actions, and human rights complaints.
Rick regularly appears before all Nova Scotia courts and labour and employment related tribunals including, the Nova Scotia Labour Board, Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. Rick will be representing an employer in a wrongful dismissal action before the Supreme Court of Canada in the near future.

Rick is a member of Stewart McKelveys Associate Compensation and Evaluation Committee. Rick is the past chair of the Constitutional and Human Rights Section, Canadian Bar Association, member of the Canadian Association of Counsel for Employers (CACE), and a past member of the Board of Directors, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. In April 2011, Rick was the recipient of the Outstanding Volunteer Award, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
