The business of Human Resources is transforming as our workplaces are transforming. In the midst of significant change, how does Human Resources add value? How might we go beyond the traditional models and functions of the Human Resource Shop to enable our public and private sectors employers success? How do we help others understand our business?
The session will focus on Human Resource leadership in strategy development and building organizational capacity as key to organizational performance excellence. It will challenge our thinking about our business and offer practical tools to help us think strategically and build capacity.

About the Speaker:
Gail Boone, CHRP
Gail is a Strategic Human Resource and Organizational Development Facilitator. Formerly she was Director of Human Resources at the Nova Scotia Public Service Commission Health Corporate Service Unit. She also worked as a Client Services Manager with the Nova Scotia Workers Compensation Board. There she lead the Transition Services Team responsible for the implementation of the response to the Supreme Court of Canada's decision on chronic pain. She has a proven track record as an operations manager and agent of change. Prior to joining the WCB, she spent 16 years in health care in frontline, management, educational and union leadership roles.
Gail is committed to working in environments fostering excellence in internal and external customer service delivery. She is a leader committed to the development of people and in building professional relationships. She fosters partnership and collaborative problem solving. She is a certified facilitator, skilled at education, team leadership, program development, problem solving and mediation. Gail's independent facilitation practice finds her working solo or partnering with other consultants to serve a variety of clients in the public and private sectors.
Gail holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and Master of Public Administration from Dalhousie University and is a CHRP. She is a member of HRANS and is a past member of the Nova Scotia Pay Equity Commission, the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation Board of Directors and was member and chair of the Nova Scotia Public Service Long Term Disability Plan Board of Directors. She is a Board Member of Halifax's North End Community Health Centre and serves on the HR committee of the Board. She is a part time faculty member of the School of Health Administration at Dalhousie University. She has facilitated workshops / courses for St. Mary's University Executive and Professional Development Program and for Dalhousie University's Continuing Technical Education Program.
