Benefits and Values of Employing Immigrants and Internationally Educated Workers The Legal Perspective for Employers: Best Practices for Hiring Foreign Workers This portion of the seminar will focus on the recent changes
to Canadian immigration law and policy, which have created new obligations and
consequences for employers. It will
offer tips for ensuring your organization is compliant with the Temporary
Foreign Worker Program. Topics to be
covered include:
- Recent changes to Canadas foreign worker regulations
- Proving the genuineness of a job offer
- Passing the substantially the same test
- The new Accelerated Labour Market Opinion Initiative
- Developing a compliance strategy to avoid Citizenship and Immigration
Canadas list of non-complaint employers
- Employer Compliance Reviews
- LMO exempt work permit categories
- Obligations when terminating a foreign worker
- Considerations for using recruiters
Cultural Integration in the Workplace The third portion of the seminar will discuss Cultural
Integration in the Workplace, including:
- To increase the understanding of newcomers challenges in the
workplace
- To be more culturally competent while working with people
who have different cultural backgrounds
- To build the individual capacities of welcoming diversity in
the workplace

Payment Terms
Payment is due by the registration deadline, which is Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Payments can be made online by credit card at the time of registration or by cheque. Cheques must be received by the registration deadline by HRANS at 84 Chain Lake Drive, Suite 103, Halifax, NS B3S 1A2.
Cancellation Policy
Those who make reservations and do not attend will be required to pay the full registration fee. Cancellations received prior to noon on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 will not be required to pay the registration fee however will be required to pay an administrative fee of $25 plus HST. Refunds (less the administrative fee) are only available if received in writing prior to noon on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Substitutions are permitted up to the day of the event. Member/non-member rates will be applied.
