CHRP Recertification Points: 2 Many organizations want to develop a diverse workforce and a welcoming environment, but do not understand what is necessary to accomplish this goal. Developing employees who are Culturally Competent is a first step towards creating a Culturally Competent organization. If you have responsibility for working with diversity or want to initiate the discussion within your workplace, this session will start you on the journey.
By attending this session, participants will be able to: - define cultural competency
- understand a model of cultural competency
- understand what is necessary to achieve cultural competency
- learn how cultural competency training can be introduced into your workplace
- understand how workplace diversity can be measured in the workplace, and
- discuss the role of diversity in the workplace.
About the Facilitator: Charla Williams has been engaged in diversity work for more than twenty years. She has spent her career working to increase representation and acceptance of underrepresented communities in the workplace. Her expertise in the area of cultural competency has allowed her to develop a unique and effective approach to working with people and is the hallmark of her diversity work with numerous organizations.

Payments may be made conveniently online by Visa/Mastercard at the time of registration or by cheque received by the registration deadline. This is a security feature for your protection. Cancellation Policy A full refund, less a $25+HST administration fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing prior to Friday, October 4th at 12:00noon. Those who make reservations and do not attend will be required to pay for the full workshop fee. Cancellations received in writing prior to noon on Friday, October 4, 2013 will only be charged the administration fee. Substitutions are permitted up to the day prior to the event. Member/non-member rates will be applied to the substitutions. This cancellation policy applies regardless of date of registration. Registrations after the cancellation deadline are non-refundable.
