| CHRP CPD Points: 2.0 HR Competency:  Workforce Planning & Talent Management   This session is designed to link the two most powerful tools available to a manager or an HR staff-person to improve performance, and coincidentally, employee satisfaction and retention. Fair, clear and practical assessment of past performance, with a view to establishing desired future performance is the first tool.  The second tool is the development of the appraisal and targets of each employee.    Learning Objectives 
    Identify the key elements of a performance appraisal system that will support coachingIdentify the key elements of a coaching system and practice that will support and sustain performance improvementsEstablish how these elements can be combined to create a performance development cycleConsider barriers and obstacles regarding the performance development cycleEstablish a performance appraisal checklistIdentify the resources necessary to create and sustain such a programConsider a coaching culture   About the Facilitator Patrick Hartling, CHRPPatrick has over 20 years of experience in the human resources profession and over fifteen years experience in facilitation, and the development and education of adults.  In 2003 he founded S.P.L. Development Services Incorporated.  He was educated at Dalhousie University and possesses a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Public Administration, and a Bachelor's degree in Law.  Patrick has been a human resources leader with organizations in the public, health, and service sectors.  Over the last fifteen years he has been actively developing, presenting, and facilitating learning opportunities for working professionals in topics such as Organizational Behaviour, Human Resources Management, and Program Evaluation.  Patrick has taught university courses at Dalhousie and Mount Saint Vincent in the Business and Continuing Education faculties, has taught courses online for Dalhousie University College of Continuing Education and the University of Alberta, and has also delivered courses as part of a Saint Mary's University Program in Nunavut.  Patrick is an active member of several community boards and is a Past President of the Human Resources Association of Nova Scotia.  He is also a Past Chair of the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations.

If paying online by Visa or Mastercard, you must have the billing address exactly as it appears on the credit card statement or the transaction will be declined.  This is a security feature for your protection.   Cancellation Policy A full refund, less a $30+HST processing fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing prior to Wednesday, October 14th at 12:00noon. Those who make reservations and do not attend will be required to pay for the full session fee.  Cancellations received in writing prior to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 will only be charged the processing fee.  Substitutions are permitted up to the business day before the event (for substitutions, the registrant must advise our office of their replacement in writing by 12 noon on October 29).  Member/non-member rates will be applied to the substitutions.  This cancellation policy applies regardless of date of registration.  Registrations after the cancellation deadline are non-refundable.
