Application Deadline for the Fall/Winter Mentorship Program is September 6, 2025.

Our Mentorship program pairs members together to learn from each others’ experience. Members working at the senior level volunteer their time to ensure that the next generation of HR professionals are prepared to meet the changing needs of the profession and industries in which they work.

Our Mentorship Program is based on the CPHR Competency Framework, or HR Core Competencies, which are based on the HR Body of Knowledge in Canada. Mentors selected for this program will have a specific area of expertise within the functional knowledge areas. Their protégés will be asked to develop a learning plan. Through this six-month commitment (beginning in October and ending by March), protégés will be paired with a mentor who will work with them to help them develop along their detailed learning plan.

Important Note:  The mentorship pairing is for the duration of the Fall/Winter 2025 program only. The next program will begin in April 2026 with applications accepted in the winter 2026.

Participants of the Mentorship Program will have the opportunity to share knowledge, access or provide ongoing career development support, and develop a standard of professional excellence. The mentorship program will provide many benefits to both the mentors and protégés participating in the program, as well as the local HR community.

The Mentoring Program will provide participants with:

  • Access to the ideas and perspectives of experienced professionals
  • Practical knowledge
  • Advice, coaching, and feedback
  • Information on career planning (if part of the agreed to development plan)
  • Encouragement and support
  • Knowledge of the HR profession, its possibilities, and practices

Our Mentorship Program has a formal structure, providing for the continuous growth of individuals within the professional practice of Human Resources. In order to determine initial and continued eligibility for participation, Mentors and protégés will be required to:

  1. Demonstrate the threshold capabilities as defined by the functional knowledge areas.
  2. Express their interest to participate by the registration deadline
  3. Commit to working within the CPHR Nova Scotia Mentorship Program framework including completion of a Mentorship Agreement, use of a development plan, regular contact within the pairing, including a minimum of 1 hour of formal mentoring meetings each month.
  4. Participate in touch-point calls throughout the program to discuss how the mentorship pairing is progressing.
  5. Provide feedback on the program as requested by CPHR Nova Scotia.

Please note that applications for the Fall/Winter Mentorship Program must be received by 12:00 pm on September 5, 2025.

The CPHR Nova Scotia Mentorship Program is open to CPHR Nova Scotia Members only.

Important Note:  While we try to match all interested applicants, a placement in this program cannot be guaranteed. Mentors/protégés can expect to hear if they have been matched by September 2025.
